Challenge

Our client, a successful entrepreneur, had identified an opportunity to establish a co-living operator in SE Asia. Kojo Living is a new co-living concept offering their tenants three types of studio, all are fully furnished and catered to your needs and budget. Studios include an ensuite bathroom, kitchen, desk, HDTV and everything else you need to live in pure comfort.   The founders approached Almax to design a funding strategy based around real estate development and the operation of co-living spaces.  The challenge Kojo faced was around building a futureproofed corporate structure that enabled the business to expand to meet the expansion roadmap.

Solution

The challenge Kojo faced was around building a futureproofed corporate structure that enabled the business to expand to meet the expansion roadmap. We understood the full requirements of our client and analysed the best format for a financial model to ensure that it was detailed enough to drive suitable conclusions but not too detailed so become impractical.

Results

Almax delivered Kojo a report detailing a number of structure scenarios and an overall evaluation and recommendation of the most fit for purpose structure and the derived investment structures.  This was based on detailed competitor and market research, financial modelling including reviewed “asset light” options and operational planning.  The Kojo Living founders understood all the options available and the report gave them a basis to progress their plan – their first site is expected to open in London in 2020.
